The Crane

We broke out the Kessler Crane yesterday and played around with it.  We have some video productions coming up and we thought we'd try to take our production to the next level using some of the "toys" we have at our disposal.  It was pretty fun to mess around with a tool that the big boys get to use.

In an upcoming post, I'm going to post on the equipment (cameras, tripods, etc.) that we use to produce the video media at Calvary.  Stay tuned...

Willow Conference, Camp, and More

I thought I'd post a quick update about what we've been up to here in the Communications office.  We took off and went to the Willow Arts Conference.  It was a great time of renewal, inspiration, and some skill training.  Francis Chan spoke at one of the last sessions and was pretty spot-on!

Last week I went to our Junior High Summer Youth Camp for a couple of days at YouthFront Camp West just outside of Kansas City.  I was there to get some video footage for the shelves of our kids as they played, prayed, and did all things camp.  I was reminded at just how AWESOME Calvary's Youth Ministry is and how blessed we are to have youth leaders, youth volunteers, and students that we have.

It truly is a pleasure to serve at a place where people matter and God is supreme!

Willow Arts Conference

We're headed to the Willow Creek Arts Conference this week.  We're all looking forward to the inspiration, recreation, and God-moments that we're going to be a part of.  If you're there say "hi" to us.  We're the artistic-looking people with thick-rimmed glasses and a goofy smile on our faces.

Creative Week - Day Seven

Monday is day seven of our creative week.

On Mondays we do a good bit of recovery from the weekend.  It's mainly a day of preparing for the upcoming week of production, a day for individual preparation for the upcoming meetings (it's really important for the creative process for each person to come to all of the meetings prepared, etc), and a day to make sure you do something in ministry that you enjoy doing.  Our (former) Senior Pastor encouraged us to make sure we're enjoying ministry...so on Monday I try to do something that I really enjoy (learning a new skill, reading about my craft, etc.). 

The other thing I try to do on Monday is scheduling.  Scheduling equipment for video shoots, scheduling volunteers who do work for us, scheduling talent for shoots, scheduling staff, etc.

Creative Week - Day Six

Sunday is day six of our creative week.
Sundays are very rewarding around here because it's when we see all of our hard work come to fruition.
One day I'll post our schedule for a typical Sunday with pre-service meetings, set-up, rehearsals & run-throughs, etc.  For now, suffice it to say, Sunday is go-day around here.
