Preparing for Easter

We have been putting some of the finishing touches on this Easter weekend.  I'm so looking forward our Good Friday service where we take time to reflect during communion and where people come to the cross nailing there their prayers, hurts, needs and confessions.

I'm so excited about Easter and proclaiming as a community together that Jesus Christ is risen.

I wanted to give you a sneak peak into some of the music we will be singing.  I've been singing these songs all week already in preparation for the weekend, so thought I might let you in on the songs too so you can be singing them!!  We have a great mix of hymns the church has used to celebrate Easter along with today's expressions of Christ's victory over the grave.

The service is going to start with that Great Easter Hymn, Crown Him with Many Crowns!    Here are these most powerful Easter words:

Crown Him the Lord of life, who triumphed over the grave,
And rose victorious in the strife for those He came to save.
His glories now we sing, who died, and rose on high,
Who died eternal life to bring, and lives that death may die.

Then we are going to sing God is Alive which is the message of Easter.

How powerful are therse words! Let the darkness flee. It’s got no power over me. I have been set free, God is alive. Death where is your sting. Sin has got no hold on me. I am free indeed. God is alive. We’ve been redeemed. So rise and sing. Everyone glorify the risen Son. The Holy One has overcome. Jesus is alive. The enemy is broken underneath His feet. Death is crushed in victory. Jesus is alive. Jesus is alive.
Our theme for the day is the freedom we have because of what Christ did on that Easter morning. We have freedom because death no longer is an enemy. We have freedom because the sins of our past are dealt with. We have freedom because of the promise of eternal life. WE have freedom because Jesus lives in us. All because of what He did. What a reason to sing: I am Free! Through You the kingdom comes Through You the battle's won Through You I'm not afraid Through You the price is paid Through You there's victory Because of You my heart Sings I am free I am free Paul writes: It is for freedom Christ has set us free! We are going to celebrate the freedom from sin, death and shame this Easter. Come ready to celebrate.

I've been singing "Hands of the Healer" all week! Can't wait to worship to it with everyone.

It is amazing how songs stick with us. That song is so appropriate for Good Friday and for gathering at the cross.
